Hello, wonderful families!
It’s Sharita here, ready to share a bit of our family’s journey with you. As a mom, I often find myself juggling the roles of cheerleader, motivator, and all-around supporter. Let me tell you, it’s a job that demands more energy than chasing a toddler on a sugar high, but it's also one of the most rewarding experiences I’ve ever had. Today, I want to share a couple of stories about my incredible kids, Mya and Jazzy, and how their determination and enthusiasm have led to some truly remarkable achievements.

Mya’s Karate Dream
From the moment Mya stepped into her first karate class, I knew she was hooked. But what really surprised me was her unwavering determination. Even though she’s still young, Mya has set her sights on becoming a karate coach one day. Yes, you heard that right—my seven year old baby girl wants to coach karate! A coach just like her mommy!
When Mya first shared her big dream, I was thrilled. She might be young, but her drive is boundless. We dove into karate with enthusiasm, and every practice was a chance for Mya to showcase her growing skills. Each new challenge was met with a determination that left me in awe. Her dedication has been truly inspiring—if there was a belt for perseverance, she’d have earned it by now! Watching her set goals and work tirelessly to achieve them has been one of the greatest joys of my mom life.

Jazzy’s New Ventures
Now, let’s talk about my beautiful teenager Jazzy. She’s been on a bit of an adventure lately, exploring new endeavors like track and ROTC. Like any other teens her age she’s on a quest to find her “thing”, and honestly, I couldn’t be prouder of her.
Jazzy’s recent enthusiasm for track has been contagious. She runs like the wind (I am sure she didn’t got this from me. LOL) , and her energy is matched only by her determination to improve. And ROTC? She’s embraced it with the same passion, balancing both activities with impressive grace.
Watching Jazzy navigate this period of exploration and growth has been an adventure in itself. It’s a beauty to watch her grow to be her own person. She’s learning that trying new things can lead to unexpected passions and that confidence comes from diving into new experiences with all your heart.

Building confidence in our children isn’t just about letting them win or always be perfect. It’s about helping them embrace their potential, learn from their experiences, and believe in themselves no matter what. It’s about giving them the tools to face challenges head-on and the support to celebrate their achievements.
Here are 6 tips to help build confidence in your kids:
1. Encourage Their Passions: Support their interests, no matter how big or small. Whether it’s karate, gymnastics, chess, arts, or something else, showing interest in their passions helps them feel valued and motivated.
2. Set Achievable Goals: Help them set realistic and attainable goals. Celebrate their progress, no matter how small, to keep them motivated and build their self-esteem.
3. Model Resilience: Show them how to handle setbacks with grace. Share your own experiences of overcoming challenges and demonstrate that persistence pays off.
4. Provide Constructive Feedback: Offer praise for their efforts rather than just the outcome. Constructive feedback helps them understand what they did well and where they can improve.
5. Create a Safe Space for Exploration: Encourage them to try new things and step out of their comfort zone. Create an environment where it’s okay to fail and learn from mistakes.
6. Be Their Biggest Cheerleader: Always be there to offer encouragement and support. Your belief in their abilities can be a powerful motivator.

So here’s to Mya’s karate dreams, Jazzy’s adventurous spirit, and to your wonderful children—may they all continue to chase their passions with enthusiasm and confidence. And to all the amazing parents cheering from the sidelines, keep those pep talks coming. After all, a little encouragement goes a long way, and sometimes, a mom/dad joke or two makes the journey even sweeter.
With all my love and cheer,
Sharita 🌟
